ALL AMERICAN RENOVATIONS

About All American Renovations

People call us when the outside of their house needs more than one thing done, and they don’t want to manage four contractors to get it done.

That’s the short answer. Here’s the longer one, including the parts that don’t flatter us.

OUR STORY

We Started in 2001 With Gutters and a Phone Book

Thomas was eighteen and didn’t want to go to college. His brother Pete asked him if he wanted to start a gutter business instead.

We called it All American Gutterworks, and we’d like to tell you there was a noble reason for the name. There wasn’t. We were all-American boys, sure, but the real deciding factor was that the Yellow Pages listed everybody alphabetically, and the more A’s you had, the closer to the top of the page you landed. A 770 number, a box truck, and a name picked to beat the alphabet.

Twenty-five years later the name is still ours, and it’s still the same two brothers.

Then the bottom fell out

Gutters turned into siding and roofing, and siding and roofing turned into a steady business installing for new construction builders. That worked right up until 2007 and 2008, when the builders stopped building. We came out the other side working directly for homeowners instead.

That turn is also when a James Hardie representative sat down with us and showed us that the way we’d been installing fiber cement was wrong. Not sloppy. Wrong, against the manufacturer’s own written instructions. That conversation started an eighteen-year relationship with James Hardie, and today we’re an Elite member of James Hardie™ ALLIANCE.

The part we’d rather not tell you

For years, our office booked appointments with a name, an address and a phone number. Thomas would drive out, hand-measure a house for an hour, drive home, and have more estimates to write than hours to write them in. So he guessed who was likely to hire us, and those people got a price. Roughly half the people who met with us never received a number at all.

Homeowners tell us all the time that they had three contractors out and two of them never called back. We were one of those two.

What changed it was admitting we needed help and getting trained. In January 2020 we stopped driving to every house before we’d had a real conversation, and started with a phone call instead. Now every customer who wants to move forward gets a price.

OUR FAMILY OF COMPANIES

Our Sister Company, American Craftsman Homes

In 2014 we started a second company, American Craftsman Homes, to build custom homes around Forsyth. Pete is its qualifying agent, and American Craftsman Homes holds the Georgia contractor license (RBCO005995) that permits for our renovation work are pulled under, where a permit is required.

American Craftsman Homes builds new homes. All American Renovations works on the homes people already live in. Same two owners, and the same design center at 42 Railroad Ave in Forsyth.

ROOTED IN FAMILY

Thomas and Pete

Thomas Williams and Pete Williams own the company. Brothers, twenty-five years in, still arguing about some things.

Thomas’s wife Tiffany worked in our office for years before stepping out to raise their family; she’s now a parapro at Rock Springs Christian Academy. Their children are Caden, Jack, Cash and Beau.

Pete’s wife Stephanie handles design management and office coordination for American Craftsman Homes, and meets our interior customers at the design center to make selections. Their children are Emily, Ethan and Eli.

When you hire us, you’re hiring a family business in the plain sense of the phrase, not the marketing sense.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

What We Actually Believe

Four things we say to customers, to our crews and to each other.

We Tell the Truth to Our Own Hurt

Even when it loses us the job. If your roof doesn't have storm damage, we'll say so. If another contractor's bid is the better offer, we'll say that too.

Mistakes Happen. The Next Day Matters.

Our crews make mistakes, this company makes mistakes, and so do we as owners. What separates us is what we do the day one gets made. Anybody here who can't admit they were wrong doesn't last.

Everybody Should Make Money

We tell our vendors, subcontractors and employees the same thing: if they can't make a good living and support their families, we have no business expecting it for ourselves.

A Team, Not Job Descriptions

Nobody here says that's not my job. If somebody asks for help, the goal is to get the job done and the customer satisfied.

OUR APPROACH

How a Project Starts

Every project starts the same way, and the first step isn’t a salesman in your living room.

01

A Phone Call First

A 30 to 45 minute call. We’ll ask you more questions than you ask us, and you’ll get a real price range before anybody drives anywhere. If we’re not the right company, you’ll hear it on this call.

02

Measured and Priced Line by Line

We measure exteriors with HOVER and scan interiors with a LiDAR camera, then write a line-item estimate you can read down to the board.

03

One Company Runs the Job

One contract, one schedule, one company answering the phone, instead of you coordinating a roofer, a siding crew, a window installer and a gutter crew.

04

A Final Walkthrough

We walk the finished job with you before we call it done.

SERVICE AREA

Where We Work

Renovation work, meaning siding, roofing, windows, decks and interiors, stays in Metro Atlanta and Middle Georgia: Henry County out through the metro, down to Macon and Warner Robins. That’s where our crews are and who we can stand behind.

Our gutter work reaches further: across Georgia, into Alabama, up through Tennessee and over into the Charleston and Savannah corridor.

OUR TEAM

Who Actually Does the Work

This is the part most contractors skip, and the part we’d most want you to read.

Katie McGinnis has been with us since 2019. She’s our bookkeeper, our office manager, and the person who keeps Thomas and Pete pointed in the right direction.

Steve Naylor has been with us about four years and is one of two project directors on the gutter side. Darrius Williams (no relation, despite the name) stepped into project director on gutters this year.

Caden Williams is Thomas’s son. He worked here off and on through high school and full time since he turned eighteen.

Chris Sineath is a project manager with many years of carpentry behind him. He’d owned his own company before joining us. He runs our larger projects and handles cabinet design and ordering. Jesse Johnson works part-time as a project manager, mostly for American Craftsman Homes, and jumps onto our projects when we need him.

Jhon Caycedo and Hernando Calvino are our full-time gutter installers. Josh Naylor (no relation to Steve) shoots our video and photography through Boardwalk Media Management.

Then there are the crews: two siding crews, a roofing crew, three gutter crews and a painting crew. They’re subcontractors working under a written independent contractor agreement, and each one carries its own workers’ comp and general liability, with ours over the top of theirs. Our painter has been with us about fifteen years, and our siding crews have been with us across fifteen years of ups and downs. When we tell you a crew will follow the manufacturer’s instructions on your house, we’re talking about people we’ve watched do it for over a decade.

Who we’re not for

If the only thing that matters is the lowest price, we’re not your company. We’re usually not the cheapest bid.

If you want to manage the trades yourself, hiring your own roofer, window installer and painter, that’s a legitimate way to run a project, and it isn’t what we do.

If you need one or two boards replaced, we’re not a handyman company.

And if you want a product we don’t install, wood or vinyl siding instead of James Hardie, for instance, we’ll point you to somebody good rather than talk you into ours.
