WHY WE INSTALL SIMONTON

What Goes Into Every Window We Install

We’ve tried another vinyl window maker, paid more and got more problems, then came back to Simonton. These are the things we look for, and the ones you can check on any quote.

Welded Frame Corners

Simonton frames are welded at the corners, not screwed together, so they don’t rack and twist. Look at the corners of a sample window and you can see which kind you’re being sold.

12

Bigger Frame Chambers

The dead air space inside a vinyl frame drives its energy rating. A skinnier frame has smaller chambers, so it performs worse.

5

Aluminum Screens, Always

Standard screens have plastic corners. We upgrade every window to extruded aluminum screens. We’d rather not sell a screen than install the plastic ones.

16

Lifetime Glass Breakage, From Us

Simonton doesn’t cover glass breakage on its 5050 series, so we add a lifetime glass breakage warranty of our own. We’ve never had to replace a window under it.

WINDOW STYLES AND OPTIONS

Finding the Right Windows for Your Home

Our standard window is the Simonton 5050 series. Colors, painted or laminate exteriors and wood-grain finishes move you up to the 5500 series.

Double-Hung Windows

Both sashes open, so you can vent from the top or the bottom.

Casement Windows

Hinged on the side and cranked open, for spots where you want full airflow.

Picture Windows

Fixed glass that doesn’t open, for views and light.

Bay and Bow Windows

Windows that project out from the wall and add a little room inside.

Specialty Windows

Arches, circles and other shapes, made to fit openings standard sizes won’t.

Entry and Patio Doors

Entry and patio doors installed with your windows, so the whole job is on one estimate.

WINDOW DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS

More Than Just Window Style

The window style is the easy part. The frame and the glass package are where window quotes really differ, and the glass package can change your price more than anything else.

Window Frame Materials

We install vinyl. If you want wood, aluminum-clad or composite windows, we’ll point you to Pella rather than sell you something we don’t install.

Glass Packages

Our standard package is low-E glass with argon gas. Upgraded glass costs more and is a big reason two quotes for the same house can be far apart.

Energy Efficiency Features

Low-E coatings, argon fill and the air chambers in the frame all feed a window’s energy rating, which is printed on the label of the window you’re buying.

Colors and Design Options

White is standard. Colors, painted or laminate exteriors and wood-grain finishes move you to the 5500 series. Cheaper windows often don’t offer them at all.

KNOW THE WARNING SIGNS

Is It Time to Replace
Your Windows?

If you notice any of these, it’s worth having someone look before the next season.

Drafts and Air Leaks

Air leaks around windows can reduce comfort, create drafts, and contribute to higher energy costs.

Condensation Between Panes

Moisture trapped between glass panes often indicates a failed seal and reduced energy efficiency.

18

Difficult Operation

Windows that stick, won’t stay open, or are difficult to lock may be reaching the end of their lifespan.

19

Rising Energy Bills

Older or inefficient windows can contribute to heat loss and increased energy consumption throughout the year.

UNDERSTANDING THE INVESTMENT

What Influences Window Replacement Costs?

On 7 to 10 windows, our jobs typically run $10,000 to $15,000 in white, and $17,000 to $30,000 for designer colors and finishes. The fewer windows on a job, the more each one costs. See the full cost breakdown.

Factors That Impact Cost

Window Style and Size

Different window styles and custom sizing can influence overall project costs.

Setup, protection and cleanup cost about the same for 3 windows or 15, so each window costs less on a bigger job.

The glass package can move your price more than any other choice.

Rotted framing around an opening adds work. Every window we install is caulked and insulated inside and out.

COMMON WINDOW QUESTIONS

Window Replacement FAQs

How do I know if my windows need to be replaced?

Common signs include drafts, condensation between panes, difficulty opening or closing windows, rising energy bills, and visible deterioration of frames or seals.

Usually, compared with old single-pane or failed double-pane windows. How much depends on the glass package and the frame: a welded frame with larger air chambers performs better than a thin, screwed-together one.

It depends on the window and the install. Simonton backs its windows with a lifetime limited warranty, and we add a lifetime glass breakage warranty of our own.

The best window style depends on your home’s architecture, ventilation needs, functionality preferences, and design goals. Our team can help you compare options and determine the right fit.

Usually, yes. White is standard; colors, painted or laminate exteriors and wood-grain finishes are available on the Simonton 5500 series, and grids are an option.

Project timelines depend on the number of windows being replaced, product selections, and installation complexity. During your consultation, we’ll provide a project-specific timeline.

The number of windows, the glass package, colors and finishes, and any repairs around the openings. On 7 to 10 windows we typically land between $10,000 and $30,000, depending on finish.

If your windows are drafty, fogged between the panes or hard to operate, usually. If they work fine, new windows are mostly a looks decision, and we’ll say so.
