Work With Us

This page is written to talk some people out of applying.

That isn’t a gimmick. We’d rather you read what this job actually is and decide it’s not for you than have you quit in week three. That costs you a job and costs us a crew member, and neither of us needed that.

If you get to the bottom and you still want it, call us. We’d like to meet you.

What We’re Hiring For Right Now

Gutter installers. That’s the only position open today.

We’re hiring individuals, not crews.

Two kinds of people work here:

People who already have the experience. You’ve hung gutter, you know what you’re doing, and you want to work somewhere that pays you properly for it.

People who have never touched a gutter machine but have a real work ethic. If you pick things up quickly and you’re willing to learn, we’ll train you. The people running our gutter crews today got there by learning it here.

What The Work Actually Is

You will be up on a ladder. If you’re afraid of heights, this is not the job. Not a little nervous, genuinely afraid. There’s no shame in it, and plenty of good trades don’t require it. This one does.

You will work in extreme heat. Georgia in July, on a ladder, in the sun.

You will work in extreme cold. The work doesn’t stop in January.

You will travel, and you will stay overnight. Our gutter work takes us across Georgia, into Alabama, up through Tennessee and over into South Carolina. That means nights away from home on a regular basis. If that doesn’t fit your life right now, we understand, but it’s not negotiable in this role.

If you read those four things and thought “that’s fine,” keep going. Most of what follows is good news.

What We Require

  • A background check. We run one on everybody, no exceptions.
  • A drug test.
  • A valid driver’s license and your own transportation.

One thing worth saying plainly, because most companies won’t: a history on your record isn’t automatically a no. It depends what it is. If you’ve got something in your past and you’re straight with us about it up front, we’ll have the conversation.

The Standard That Matters Most

Everything above is about your body and your paperwork. This part is about your character, and it’s the one thing we won’t bend on.

When you make a mistake, you own it.

You’re going to make mistakes. We all do. Pete and I have built this entire company on learning from ours. That’s not a figure of speech, it’s the actual history. My dad used to say experience is the best education, it just costs so much. He was right, and we’ve paid the tuition.

So if you think you’re perfect, this isn’t the place for you.

I mean that plainly. Everybody in this world makes mistakes. Our crews make them. This company makes them. Our customers make them. I make them. We’re human beings, not robots, not machines, and anybody who believes they’re above that is going to be miserable here and make the people around them miserable too.

What we can’t work with is somebody who won’t say it. We’ve had people here who were caught red-handed and still spun the story around until it was somebody else’s fault. That person doesn’t last, and it isn’t because of the mistake. It’s because of what came after it.

We tell our customers the truth even when it loses us the job. We expect the same from each other. There are no small lies here, because every one of them comes back around eventually.

And here’s what I tell customers, so you know this isn’t something we only say inside the building:

If a contractor sits across from you and tells you this job is going to go perfectly and there’ll never be a mistake, he’s lying to you.

Things happen. Humans are human. What separates us from everybody else isn’t that we don’t make mistakes. It’s how we handle them when we do.

That’s the job. If you can work that way, we want to talk to you.

How We Pay, And Why It’s Different

Most gutter installers in this industry get a flat number for a day worked, and nothing for a day not worked. We don’t run it that way.

You get paid for holidays. If it’s a holiday Monday and you’re not working, you still get paid.

You get paid for travel time. When we send you three states away, the hours in the truck are hours you’re paid for.

You get paid for experience and for production. There’s a base, and there’s production and bonus on top of it. The better and faster you get, the more you make. Your paycheck isn’t frozen the day you’re hired.

We offer health insurance after a 90-day waiting period, and we cover a portion of the premium. You pick up the rest. We’re telling you about the ninety days on this page rather than letting you find it out in your second week.

We’re trying to redefine what a gutter installer’s job looks like, instead of accepting the version this industry has settled for.

Where It Goes If You’re Good

Our gutter work covers a large territory, and our plan is to open All American Renovations locations across it.

That means the people who are here and good at this get first look at what comes next: crew leader, project director, project manager, sales. Two of our project directors run the gutter side today. One of them had been here a little over a year when he stepped into it.

We would rather grow somebody than go hire a stranger.

How To Apply

Call the office at (770) 629-0589 and ask for Caden.

Not an online form. A phone call.

Here’s exactly what happens after that, so there are no surprises:

  1. Caden takes your information and runs the background check.
  2. When that comes back, we do the drug test.
  3. Then we sit down for an interview.
  4. Then you work a trial day with one of our crews.

That last step is the important one, and it’s for your benefit as much as ours. A trial day is how you find out whether you can handle the heat, the cold and the height, not by taking our word for it, and not by finding out three weeks in.

Nobody should have to guess about that. Including us.
