How a Kitchen Remodel Works With Us
You make selections first, then we measure, then you get a price. We don’t give a number before the design exists, because that’s where change orders come from.
Selections at Our Design Center
You choose cabinets, counters and finishes with Thomas or Stephanie at our design center in Forsyth.
Measured, Then Priced
Our project manager measures the space after your selections are made, so the price comes off your actual layout.
Design Retainer Only When Needed
If a fixture moves or cabinet sizes change, the design work runs on a retainer of about 3 to 5% of the projected budget, credited to your deposit if you build with us. If everything stays where it is, there’s no retainer.
No Builder Change Order Guarantee
Our proposals are reviewed by our project managers and checked against subcontractor bids before you see them. Short of rot or code problems we can’t see until demolition, the price you sign is the price you pay.
Cabinets, Counters and Everything Around Them
Three Cabinet Lines
US Cabinet Depot (ready-to-assemble), Fabuwood (semi-custom) and Plain & Fancy (full custom). All three are plywood boxes with soft-close doors and drawers on Blum guides. What the price buys is options.
Kitchen Islands
Islands built from the same cabinet line as the rest of the kitchen, sized to the room.
Countertops and Surfaces
Countertops chosen at our design center alongside your cabinets.
Lighting and Fixtures
Lighting, faucets and fixtures chosen with the rest of your selections, so they’re priced in from the start.
Layout Changes
Moving a sink, range or cabinet run is design work. It starts with a scan of your kitchen and a drawn layout before there’s any price.
Flooring and Finishes
Flooring, backsplash, paint and trim, on the same estimate as the rest of the kitchen.

How Much Does a Kitchen Remodel Cost?
Your cabinet line is the biggest swing in a kitchen budget. Fabuwood’s upper tier runs about 15 to 20% more than its standard colors, and Plain & Fancy runs about 20 to 25% above Fabuwood. Compare the three cabinet lines.
Factors That Impact Cost
Cabinet Line and Lead Time
Lead times matter too: our base line takes about 2 weeks, and Plain & Fancy takes 6 weeks at best, usually 12 to 18.
Materials and Finishes
Countertops, flooring, backsplashes, lighting, fixtures, and appliance selections all contribute to the final investment.
Layout Changes
Moving plumbing or changing cabinet sizes means design work before pricing, and that’s when the design retainer applies.

What drives a kitchen remodel’s price?
Your cabinet line is the biggest swing. All three lines we carry are plywood boxes with soft-close doors and drawers on Blum guides. What costs more is options and lead time.
| US Cabinet Depot (ready-to-assemble) | Base price · about 2 weeks |
|---|---|
| Fabuwood upper tier (any paint on any profile) | About 15 to 20% over Fabuwood standard · a little longer |
| Fabuwood custom paint color | About another 20 to 25% · roughly 3 months |
| Plain & Fancy (full custom) | About 20 to 25% over Fabuwood · 6 weeks at best, usually 12 to 18 |
Not the right fit if you want a firm price before anything is designed or selected.
Kitchen Remodeling FAQs
Answers to the questions we hear most about kitchen remodels.
How much does a kitchen remodel cost?
It depends most on the cabinet line and whether anything in the layout moves. We price from a finished design, not a guess, so the number you sign is the number you pay, short of hidden rot or code problems.
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
It depends on the scope, and cabinet lead time is often the biggest factor: about 2 weeks for our base line, and 12 to 18 weeks for full custom.
Can I live in my home during the remodel?
In many cases, yes. While your kitchen may be temporarily unavailable, many homeowners remain in their homes throughout the remodeling process.
Do I need permits for a kitchen remodel?
It depends on the scope. Electrical and plumbing changes often need a permit, and permits are pulled where the work requires them, under our sister company American Craftsman Homes‘ Georgia license (RBCO005995), qualified by Pete Williams. See our credentials.
What adds the most value in a kitchen remodel?
We won’t promise resale value. Our advice is to spend on the cabinet options you’ll use every day, since the box itself is the same across all three of our lines.
What's the first step?
Start at our design center. If nothing in the layout moves, you make selections, we measure and you get a price. If a fixture moves or cabinet sizes change, the design work starts on a retainer first.
