This Cochran, GA, job started with a thin brick floor and grew into a new primary bathroom built from an unused bedroom, an updated second bedroom and bath, new hardwood floors, a custom closet and built-ins around the bedroom fireplace.

HOW IT STARTED
It Started With a Brick Floor
When I built my own house, I used thin brick from Cherokee Brick on the mudroom, pantry and laundry room floors and my kitchen backsplash, and I posted it on Instagram with Cherokee Brick tagged. These homeowners in Cochran had been looking for someone to install that exact look and couldn’t find a contractor. They reached out to Cherokee Brick, we got connected, and after our first visit they moved forward with the thin brick floor right then and there. Cochran is farther south than we normally work, but this was worth the drive.
THE PRIMARY BATH
From Spare Bedroom to Primary Bath
As the floor was wrapping up, they asked for more. They had a bedroom and closet they didn’t use anymore, and we turned the whole thing into a new primary bathroom, connected to the primary bedroom by a hallway. It has a freestanding tub, a walk-in shower, and a double vanity with a linen tower in the middle.

Before, this was a carpeted spare bedroom with an inflatable bed on the floor. Now it’s the primary bath.
THE SECOND BATH
The Second Bedroom and Bath
We updated the second bedroom and its bathroom too, and put new hardwood floors in the primary bedroom, the hallway and the second bedroom.
THE FIREPLACE WALL
Built-Ins Around an Old Fireplace
The primary bedroom had an old fireplace, closed off but still jutting out from the wall. We built cabinets across that wall and reduced the depth of the ones at the jut, so the fronts run flush all the way across even though the cabinets behind them are different depths. Now it reads like an old fireplace that just isn’t used anymore.

We also built a custom closet for the new primary suite.
